Nursing Transition to Practice: Innovative Partnership to Promote Quality & Safety

OBJECTIVES: 

  1. Identify a collaborative approach to evolving quality education for clinical staff.
  2. Explore various learning strategies to engage those in healthcare to improve quality and safety.
  3. Formulate a plan to support their organization’s compliance to meet accrediting-body standards.

The speakers will share information about how Nurse Residency program leaders at Mayo Clinic Arizona partnered with one of their organization’s quality professionals to innovate the nurse residency program.  New nurses were able to learn about quality and safety through the use of simulation.  Various learning modalities were incorporated to make the learning curriculum engaging and meaningful.  This session will highlight the curriculum design and quality/safety analysis tool which can be adapted to any healthcare setting and audience.
