Excellent communication is essential to developing high reliability healthcare organizations.  High reliability requires cultivating a safety culture and executing on robust process improvement.  Achieving these requires well-developed communication skills.  While communication seems simple – it’s something everyone has been doing since they were born – communicating to colleagues and patients and family members in a high stress, high stakes work environment is a different level of communication.  Attaining high reliability in healthcare demands communication that is precise, succinct, and understood.
