Learning objectives:

  • Interpret the patient experience at a deeper level to gain an understanding of patient- and family-centered care and how it can be applied to settings across the continuum of care to enhance quality, safety, and the experience of care for all.

  • Identify strategies to support and sustain partnerships among health care professionals, educators, researchers, and patients and families.

  • Explore patient- and family-centered approaches to address current priorities in health care—specifically, reducing readmissions, providing safe care transitions, improving cost efficiency, and enhancing workforce capacity.

  • Implement the power you have to transform patient lives, regardless of how busy you are - even without direct patient contact.

  • Identify the relationship between compassion, kindness, and patient satisfaction.

About our Speaker:

At the age of 21, Rob Oliver sustained a spinal cord injury while body surfing on the Outer Banks.  He spent the next 6 months in the hospital for rehabilitation and has become a "frequent flier" because of the side effects of his injury.  A determined learner, Rob determined to learn from his experiences and share that knowledge with others.  With a lifetime of patient experience, a Master's degree in Psychology and 20 years' experience as a trainer, Rob brings a message that is personal, powerful and practical.
